Shadow Sneak or some king of priority move is very important in doubles. Because most people don't bother putting up Stealth Rock or spikes in doubles, some people can effectively run Focus Sash. With Shadow Sneak, you can quickly dispatch of Pokemon thinking they can use Focus Sash and get away with it.
Not totally necessary, but yeah.

Haha. I just know cause I've used it with him on netbattle before.
He probably learn from move tutor or something hopefully =P
