That was one of the main ideas. Doesn't matter when worked on, though. Just wanted to get it up. So far:
In the previous versions, there have been organizations trying to take over the world. But, what if there was a battle between pokemon themselves. Just think: Aura (representing light) and Dark have to balance each other out, right? But what if they wanted to get rid of each other for good. So, a war goes on between Aura and Dark pokemon. The leaders behind these two sides are legendary pokemon. In order to restore peace, you have to capture (or defeat) the two legendaries (so in this game people could get both legendaries and not have to trade for them, sorta like in good old blue and red). In one version, you have to capture the Aura legendary first. This will cause a darkness so great to occur that even the brightest city lights appear dim (eternal night). Then, when you capture (or defeat) the Dark legendary, it goes back to normal, since the pokemon only fought each other under their leaders command. In the other version, you have to capture (or defeat) the Dark legendary first. This will cause the earth to be so bright, that people's/pokemon's eyes can barely see (sorta like when there is a bright light and you have to look away, just a bit less severe) anything (eternal day). Then, when you capture (or defeat) the Aura legendary, everything goes back to normal for the same reason as before.
Rough Draft For beginning:
You start off in you room watching the TV. On the TV, a reporter states a new pokemon has been discovered.
Reporter: Apparently, this new type of pokemon is the cause of the light in our everyday lives. While most of these pokemon are completely new, the trace of this new type is also found in some previous pokemon already discovered, only discoverable now due to due matching tests with the new type. The type's name has not been decided yet.
(This way, its easy to introduce the Aura pokemon)
Afterwards, your dad (a researcher at the pokemon lab) walks in.
Dad: Hey _____(you), did you see the report on... (looks at TV) Oh. I guess you have. I was just watching it downstairs. Well, one thing you should know is that my boss, Prof. Redwood, (I heard it earlier on this topic and thought it was cool) discovered the type. But those stupid reporters can't ever give away the whole story. It has actually been named, by Prof. Rewood, as the Aura type. But that will come in the next report: Founder of New Type Gives Name to it! What a joke. Well, i guess his new discovery will fuel his ambition to travel the world and fill up the pokedex. But without him, what would be lab researchers due. Sure, we're smart, but he's the reason why we work so well and so hard. (says as walking off) I guess if somebody could go in his place then.. (turns back at you) Well... Maybe... Its worth a shot. (Turns away and leaves room)
You walk downstairs and see your mom. Apparently dad left for work so soon after your conversation.
Mom: Oh, hi honey. Did you hear about the new type of pokemon? ........ Oh, so dad told you the whole thing. Though I bet Prof. Redwood wont mind it as much. He's so much more relaxed than your dad. Oh, by the way. ------(your rival) came over to tell you something. I think he/she is at his/her house next door.
You walk over and your Rival is waiting for you.
Rival: There you are ______. Where have you been. My dad, you know, the other researcher at the lab, is so mad at the TV reporters. He thinks they're not even going to mention that the Prof. discovered the Aura type and what its actually named. He thinks they're give credit to one of their producers, or something. And he's right. 100% And since he can't leave work to tell them off, WE will. They're just off Route ###.
(As you can see, your rival is sorta the stubborn type)
You walk to Route ### with your rival, when you come up to a area covered with tall grass.
Rival: What's that/ Don't walk into the tall grass? Come on there are people over there. It's safe. Come on.
You walk up to find the Prof. suitcase.
Rival: Is that the Prof.'s suitcase. He must of been here, but, where is he now. *gasp* Look at what those people are doing to those pokemon. (points at people mentioned earlier)
(the pokemon, two Hamplars, go on a rampage and escape the humans grasps, then head strait for you and your rival)
Rival: What do we do? Wait! The suitcase! (opens up the suitcase) Yep, just as I thought. Quick, choose a pokeball and lets fight this out.
(Now is where you pick your starter, Neflin, Cuniper, or Undalin. You pick, and then you fight with the Hamplar)
After battle- Rival: Man that was close. Now who are you people? (the two people turn, now recognizable as your dad and someone else) What? I can't believe this! Its my dad. And yours too _____!
(Prof. Redwood, young man with red hair comes up) Prof: Well, it seems you passed the test.
Rival: Test?
Prof: Yes. You see, both of your fathers thought that my discovery would make me want to follow my ambition harder. And it did. But, both of your fathers thought that you could do it for me. So they told me, and we set up this test. You see, these aren't wild pokemon, they're mine. Come on, guys. Back into the pokeballs. (He returns the two Hamplars). They knew about the whole thing all along. The only real people in danger were you two. But, these were just Hamplars, and you seemed to handle nicely on your own. So you've past the test.
Rival: But dad, you still thought the Prof. wouldn't receive any credit, don't you?
Rival's Dad: No, it was just so you would come here, since I knew you would think I was right. They already worked that detail out.
Rival: But dad...
Rival's Dad: No buts!
Rival: Ok. But what happens now that we've passed the test.
Prof: Ah yes. For passing, you both get to keep your pokemon (you officially get your pokemon and are asked if you would like to name it) and a brand new pokedex (you officially get your pokedex). Boys you are going to fill my ambition, by traveling the world and filling up this pokedex. Well, time to get back to the lab. Good luck boys.
(So, for the first time, you get your pokemon due to passing a test)
Rival: Not to be rude, ______, but I will complete it first. Your ***** (your pokemon) was good, but my ****** (their pokemon) was awesome. ....... What? You don't believe me? I'll prove it to you!
(You battle your rival with your pokemon's HP and PP restored. After the battle... well, that's as far as I've gotten.)
